Additional Resources

There are so many resources available for anyone interested in learning how global education prepares students for careers and college. I want to include some interesting ones on this page.

Girl Rising - This is an initiative that promotes literacy and education for girls in regions where educational opportunities for girls are restricted. Currently they are promoting a film created with the intent to raise awareness about this topic. The film can be obtained by paying a licensing fee and shown in institutions and theaters or other community areas.

Primary Source - This is one of the best sites for educators to connect with communities and resources worldwide. They offer many, many resources such as professional development, webinars, reading lists, a library, curriculum units and lesson plans, and study tours.

Coverdell World Wise Schools (Peace Corps) Another excellent site with curricula, lesson plans, video, publications, and classroom matches with Peace Corps volunteers in the field and with returned Peace Corps volunteers who serve as speakers in the classroom. Truly a wealth of resources.

Global Kids This New York-based organization is a school that also provides online curricular content, professional development for educators seeking to become trained in a variety of areas including international affairs, diversity awareness and global citizenship. The school is physical as well as online, and reaches out to urban youth, offering many opportunities including service projects and travel.

Teachers for Global Classrooms has a blog that combines the travel experiences of all the 2012-2013 fellows, and also archives from past years. It makes for great readings, and provides insights on the scope of the year's activities and travel.
